Thank you, Sarah Lawrence.

It’s much more difficult to leave than I thought it would be. I’m having a really hard time with this. I’ve never even referred to my parents house as my home. It’s harder knowing I won’t be back in the fall, even with the promise of returning in the spring. Citing reasons here would only undermine them.

I am so humbled by this experience.

Anonymous asked: slc pros/cons? i'm an admitted student but not sure if i want to commit yet! i won't be able to visit the campus because of financial reasons, so this is all scary for me!

Answer:

Congratulations! Don’t be scared! This place is absolutely wonderful. Sure, I’ll give you a couple pros and cons. I don’t know what kind of person you are so some of the things I like might be things you hate & vice versa.

Cons
-Shit is expensive.
-The Metro-North (train that goes to city) can range from $7-$14 one way
-No Greek life. I don’t know why this is going in the cons list actually. Fuck greek life.
-Athletics is not what this school is about
-Probably sucks to be a single straight girl
-Work is what you put into it. If you slack it’s a waste of money.
Pros
-There are no ‘majors’ to allow students to study whatever interests them
-Charming campus
-Professors are some of the best in their field and will get to know you quite personally. (one of my favorite writers Tao Lin was teaching a class here in the fall)
-Class can feel like a family setting
-Students are creative, quirky and intelligent
-People are weird. Like I thought I was weird. This is a massive pro.
-You will probably never sit alone. Strangers will approach you and engage you about anything.
-Most LGBT friendly school in the world
-It’s quite accommodating for vegetarians/vegans/vaginas
-There are a lot of awesome clubs: feminists, politics dance yoga meditation drawing, 2 burlesque troupes, a ton of zines, theatre clubs, many more
-There are a lot of great events. Amazing speakers. Vera Wang is giving the commencement speech this year.
-The town is adorable.
I could say a lot more if you have more specific questions but I have a book on my lap that I want to read riiiight now. Onwards!
